Made In L.A part 3.

1. If it were up to you to make the decision, would you let the sweatshop workers become legal U.S. Citizens? why or why not?
A: I wouldn't even hesitate to not let the sweatshop workers become u.s. citizens. The reason is because they are exactly like u.s. citizens. citizens do to get their jobs is work hard and that is what the sweatshop workers are doing as you can see. Also the only difference between us and the sweatshop workers are that some don't speak English and that they are not from America.

2. Describe a moment from 1,2, or 3 of this movie you found particularly memorable? Why?
A: Honestly the most memorable part of the Made in L.A was the 3rd one when i was listening to the lady who was saying that she came to L.A in a back of a truck and said that she was one of the lucky people. The reason is because others usually lose a body part or die or get killed, so even after all that complaining inside she is still grateful to be alive and be with her kids.

3. By the end of part 3, the protester seem to be giving up hope. If you were able to speak to the group, what would you say to inspire them to keep going?
A: I think if I was to able to speak to the group, i would say to of course not to give up hope because one day someone is going to help them speak to Forever 21 and one day Forever 21 IS going to listening and will think the reason they are protesting is reasonable reasons. So if they were to stop now they will not be heard anymore and forever 21 is going to just forget about how important the sweatshop workers are and if they were to all quit working at the sweatshop Forever 21 would be nothing ! ( not saying they should quit)

SWEATSHOPS in LA.

1. How is the life of sweatshop workers the same as those in Indonesia? How is it different?
Answer: it is the same because they are still getting paid less than others, and is still struggling through life. It is different because they get paid more which means they are able to get a house and no be living around their own poop like how people in Indonesia does. Also there are people who are helping the people in LA get paid more and get less hours.

2. Why is it that poor immigrants (newcomers) end up working at sweatshops? Why don't they work as lawyers, doctors, or at McDonalds ?
Answer: The reason is because they need green cards and citzens cards (or something like that) , but in sweatshops they don't need experience or any of that.

3. Predict what is going to happen in the end of the movie?
Answer: i think it is going to be the same, just them working as hard as they can just to get by, but my hopes are that they get paid more and work less hours so they can see their kids and stuff.

Dear Nike,
I don't like how the nike company has been treating us. Us people in Indonesia are working a 12 hour shift and only earning a dollar a day that can only get me a little bit of food for me and my family. When I see that famous people like Tiger Woods get millions of dollars just for wearing nikes, it upsets me. It upsets me because we are puting hard work into the shoes and other people don't give us credit for it at all. All the money that famous people earn just for wearing our sneakers is unbelievable, all that money could buy so much houses for half of the factory workers and have enough money for food. I hope you read this and feel compassionate and please do something that will help me and facotry workers in Indonesia.

SLAVERY PART 2

1. How much does nike workers in Indonesia each day? How many hours day do they work ?
A: The nike workers get $1.25 a day. And when they work overtime just to get by the hours are about 15 hours a day for 6 to 7 days a week.

2. What is life like for Indonesia Nike workers at home ?
A: it is nasty i think. One of the reasons i think it is nasty is because of the fact is that there is feces all around the house. They are sleeping on the floor with rats and bugs. They are not even having enough time with the kids ( the people who have kids).

3. Why wont nike speak to Jim or Leslie or let them visit the shoe factory?

A: I think it is because they think that Leslie & Jim will convince them to protest to work less hours and get paid more like how the people in L.A did. Or they probably didn't wanna see how they treated the factory workers and if Jim & Leslie did see the nike company will probably get shut down.

BEHIND THE SWOOSH, part one.

1. What does it mean to have a "decent living"? What should you be able to afford to buy?
A: I think you should be able to live in a house or at least a apartment. Also you should have a car and be able to afford clothes and food and have a good health care plan.

2. Where do your sneakers come from ? Who makes them ?
A: My sneakers are made in Indonesia. I think the people who made my sneakers are people who work in factories ( sweat shops) and make shoes and other stuff for a living.

3. What is a sweat shop ? ( take a guess even though you have no idea what it is)
A. I don't really know what a sweat shop is but I think it is an factory where people make shoes and/or clothes for minimum wage or less.

Q1: How are dairy farms different from factories farms?
A: They are different from dairy farms because dairy farms don't put antibiotics or hormones in the animals like the factories do.

Q2: What is RBGH and what does it do?
A: RBGH is growth hormones from cows that make your breast grow.

Q3: What is the milk replacer fed to calves made out of ? Why is this bad?
the milk replacer is made out of cow blood, and it is bad because there is many antibiotics and hormones.

Q4: Can you do anything to make a difference as a counsumer?
We can buy organic milk and then they'll see that factory milk is not selling os they will stop putting stuff in the animals.

Q1: How does factory farms treat differently than family farms?
A: The factory farms are very different from family farms because family farms usually let the pigs roam around and be free instead of letting the pigs stay in cages with other pigs and live with their own poop and etc. like the factories farms.

Q2: Why are the animals fed antibiotics in factory farms and why is this dangerous.
A: They give pigs antibiotics so they wont get sick since they live in their own poop and spread it to people.

Q3: What happens to animal excrement (poop) in factory farms.
A: Once they start to poop and leave it, and it starts to pollute the air and the river where people breathe in and start fishing and etc.

Q:Using in your own words, what are the three things you learned about water that you did not know before?
1) One thing i did not know that I just learned is that only a FRACTION os this water on Earth is clean fresh and usable water.
2) Another thing I did not know was that us Americans use the most water than anything else. I always thought plants used up more water than us.
3) The last and final thing i didn't know was that 70% of our fresh water goes to water crops.
a)  Name one way water sources become contaminated in third world countries.
answer- when people use the bathroom it goes to the river and people drink from rivers.

b) what are the dangers of contaminated water?
answer- if you drink dirty water you will get very sick and if it is really dirty it can affect you and possibly make you die.

c) Describe ( in your own words) an invention that can save people from drinking contaminated water?
answer - when they go use the bathroom it goes into a pipe that goes into a garbage can, so they can have clean water to bathe in and drink clean water

d) why do you think people from 3rd world countries do not have the inventions?
answer- i think they don't have it because they don't have enough money to afford stuff like this.

EVERYDAY LIFE
I hate that everyday as I come from school;; I have to lie about my day.. about my pain
As I log in my computer I already know what I'm going see;
disgusting, painful words describing me;;
As I step out my room.. I put on an act, LYING about my pain to my family
So before I go to school tomorrow and relive this lie
I HAVE TO DIE ..
